Know your vehicle

While crabbing with my nephew this past weekend. We ran accross a fella that was in a bit of trouble. Seems he didn't think thing through when he went to go around (instead of backing up) another truck.
He stopped us us and ask if we could pull him out. I thought..ok shouldn't be a big deal. Man was I wrong. He was so stuck in the surf with the tide riseing that it took a forest fire truck to wench him out.
After all was said and done his decision will cost him thousands in repairs due to the flooding of his truck.
So the next time your out...think before you just decide to go.

Turning my back?

Ok I never thought I'd be saying something likes this so let me apologize right from the start.
How can I start this? Let me start by saying what I kill feeds my family and for the past two seasons I have come up empty.

Now I see do see critters, but its like they know I have my a recurve and stay just outa my 25 yr effective range.
So like i stated earlier its been two seasons now that I've come home empty handed. And believe me the wife is starting to question as to whats goin on...lol.

Of coarse now I think ok... even the wife see's it. Now I am figuring' I gota start bringing home the bacon, but what am I to do?

Which leads me to this post. I am actually considering turning my back on my traditional ways just to put meat in the freezer.
I figure(don't take this the wrong way)that I'll use the advantage of the modern machines...IE range to kill a few does to get the meat stocked up. And when I "want to hunt" use my recurve?

I know this sounds bad...like I said earlier I never in my life thought I'd be thinking about something like this. It's not that I miss the kill; its having the meat to curve the grocery bill that's getting to me.

I'm goin nuts aren't I?
