Searching for Snakheads

I got to reading about the northern snakeheads starting to get a foot hold in my area of NJ. With all the tidal water ways near me I'm positive I'll find some sooner or later.
Yesterday was a tough day fishing. The wind kicked up and was blowing west with 25mph gusts. Needless to say my kayak was extremely difficult to keep in one place; let alone cast accurately. I didn't have any results fishing yesterday, except for a very hungry bluegill that grabbed my jig.
I'm gonna do some more research on the snakeheads. I have a feeling its still a little early for these guys? They a tropical fish and I'm assuming the warmer the water the more active they'd be. Plus the lilly's and other vegetation they like the hide in hasn't grown yet.
I'll be posting more on this adventure later...

Stay tuned

DIY Video Mount

I'm always seeing some really great wildlife or scenery while out in my my. So I've been wanting to get into some videography while out kayaking. I looked online, but never really found anything that I thought would suit my needs. Everything that's on the market seems to be geared toward the "hero" shot and not toward actually getting footage...at least that's what I've found.

I wanted to come up with a removable platform that I could attach my video camera. I already had a camera arm that I used while deer hunting. So I thought I would use the same concept and just adapt it to a portable unit. Below is a picture of what I came up with using a few peaces of wood, 4 inch PVC, 1 closet flange, 1pvc cap, paint and some bungee cords.

Lets get a new post up....From fishing to hunting in minutes!

So I started hunting from my kayak last season. I experimented with different camo covers; mainly to hide the boat from other people. But I really didn't like what I had.
After much looking and pricing store bought kayak duck blinds and not really finding much or wanting to spend $100. I decided to just make my own. Very easy to make, you just need some camo burlap, twine or hemp cord and some 550 para cord.
A couple cuts and stitches and BAM you got yourself a fitted boat blind for your kayak.
