Crabbing the honey hole

I hit my crabbing hole this past Saturday. I did pretty well using two box traps and two hand lines baited with chicken backs.
I played it smart and went very early. I had the entire fishi g area to my self for about three hours. The crabbing was pretty consistent with only about twenty minutes of down time. I came home with 22 keepers, but caught roughly thirty something. Probably could have done better if I didn't miss so many on the hand lines.

The coveted fishing crate...

If you are in need of a fishing crate for your kayak, I'd like to suggest this video

I've made several crates in the past, but this version is by far the best in my opinion. Theres something about have a lid on your crate that is comforting.

Take a look... I'm gonna bet that you'll like it.

Geared up the kayak

New adjustable console
Kayak with temporary console

This is the year I start doing more outdoors... like I used to.

I decided to do some much needed updates and modifications on my kayak.
So I've added a fish finder with solar panel to charge the battery, adjustable console that doubles as a cutting board, and rack on the back that holds my net and gaff.
I think I've almost got it to where I need it. I'm confident in the boats abilities. So once I'm ready for bigger water, things should go smoothly.

Going for a stroll

So I got a wild hair up my ass a few days ago and decided it was worth a go.
Lately, dealing with my depression has all but sucked the life from me. And I haven't been doing much of anything.

So I decided I needed to start challenging myself. I came up with the idea of walking to Atlantic city. A 53 mile trip...one way.

Today was the first day of training. I loaded up my pack with 25lbs, just to get into the swing of things. Strapped on my new Keen hiking shoes and headed out the door.

I was pretty surprised with my progress today. 5.69 miles for the first time out. I can't complain about that.. Even for an old jarhead like me.

I'll post more as thing progress
